Inmates at the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre will now be a bit cooler and will have some relief from water shortage issues following the donation today of eight fans and three water tanks from the Guardian Life Group.
The donation follows a needs analysis at the institution and was organized by the Department of Correctional Services Boards of Directors.
State Minister in the Ministry of National Security Hon. Rudyard Spencer lauded the Guardian Life Group for its continued contributions to the Department of Correctional Services
“I must say that the Guardian Life Group family has continued to be a dedicated and passionate partner in providing the essential resources to uplift the women in our care. It is encouraging to know that this need was seen, noted and addressed by the Guardian Group. You continue to give back to society as well as to the Department of Correctional Services. I laud you for your efforts and compassion shown towards the most vulnerable. I look forward to our continued partnership as we all work together to achieve a safer Jamaica” he stated.
Eric Hosin, President of the Guardian Life Group said the Guardian Life Group is looking forward to donating even more to the DCS.
“We are excited to be helping here at the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre. Circumstances have led to these ladies being here in this situation and regardless they need to be treated properly. Making this donation is the start of a relationship with Fort Augusta and we hope to help more in providing a certain level of care.”
He also commended the correctional officers for doing what he said was a tremendous job, praising them for their hard work.
Noting that the Guardian Life Group has been working with correctional institutions for years, Mr. Hosin said Guardian is here to help.
“This is our first time helping here at the Fort Augusta Correctional Centre and we look forward to a continued partnership as we try to secure more water tanks for this institution as well as for the Horizon Adult Correctional Centre” he said.
The Guardian Life Group will provide further support to the Department of Correctional Services by assisting with the installment of the tanks and the procurement of additional water tanks.
The company has been long-standing partners with the Department of Correctional Services through its annual donations to the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre Christmas Treat.
